Charleston Harbor Marina
Charleston Electrical Services Provider
When Hurricane Matthew crashed into Charleston’s shores, it left destruction in its wake. Many houses and businesses faced water damage and electrical repairs. Because of its waterfront location, the Charleston Harbor Marina was also heavily affected the hurricane. Feyen Zylstra was happy to help the Charleston Harbor Marina get back on its feet by providing a new substation and wiring. Our team also provided a new 480v 600 amp panel/substation to power 480v 100 amp pedestals for transient boats. Our team integrated our engineering and electrical expertise to provide quality and value for the Marina.
Working on the waterfront posed some unique challenges to the FZ team. Having to constantly monitor and react to the weather, tides, and winds created an extra layer of responsibility while having to ride a barge to and from the substation was a new experience for all. In order to protect the substations from the waves that crash over the docks, our team designed and installed spray shields. With the Marina needing to be fully functional by the Charleston Race Week, our team also faced an extremely aggressive schedule. Our team worked diligently to complete the project on time!
