Looking to solve a seemingly simple problem — audio feedback and interference in their City Commission Chamber — the City of Walker searched for a service provider to come up with a solution. What they found was a trusted systems integrator partner in Feyen Zylstra.

The City of Walker originally brought FZ in to upgrade and redesign the decades-old system, but FZ was able to help them check some items off of their “wish list.” As part of the project, our team provided new display monitors throughout the room, upgraded the speakers and microphones, and enhanced the security of the technology — all of which had to be done in a single week in order to be up and running for the next City Commission meeting.

The new system now has reliable, clear audio, free from feedback, in the public areas of the building while meetings are in session. Our team also enabled network streaming to the City’s YouTube channel, allowing community residents to watch public meetings in real-time, even if they can’t make it in person. This is a leading edge service just starting to be implemented in local and state governments. The recording then stays posted on their channel so that residents can go back and review old meetings.
