Michigan Milk Producers
Sustainable Electrical Solutions
Feyen Zylstra is proud to support the development of Michigan Milk Producers Association’s cutting-edge ethanol production facility in Constantine, MI. This state-of-the-art plant utilizes milk permeate, a byproduct of dairy processing, to produce low-carbon ethanol. This not
only helps mitigate climate change, but also creates more value for local dairy farmers. When complete, the facility will convert 14,000 tons of milk permeate into 2.2 million gallons of ethanol annually, significantly reducing its carbon footprint and offsetting approximately 14,500 tons of carbon emissions per year.
FZ’s involvement in the project includes providing power, communications, lighting, plant floor control systems, and lighting reciprocals for the office space. We are also implementing a complex control system in the distillation area that will ensure precise management of the ethanol
production process. Currently, our team is roughing in the office space and installing the electrical room equipment.
Given the hazardous nature of the plant’s operations, much of our work involves class one hazardous, explosion-proof systems, with a focus on using corrosion-resistant PVC materials. These systems are critical to ensure safety and compliance with industry standards in an environment where flammable materials and hazardous chemicals are present. FZ’s involvement in this project underscores our expertise in working with complex, high-risk environments.
We are proud to contribute to a project that combines cutting-edge technology with sustainability goals to drive progress in both the renewable energy and agricultural sectors.
