Feyen Zylstra has served as a trusted food processing electrical integrator partner at Michigan Turkey Producers for almost 18 years. When Stellar Construction was hired to build the new employee wellness facility and a new chiller building, FZ’s pre-existing knowledge of the facility and operations made us an ideal project partner. Our team provided the complete electrical package for both new buildings along with the fire alarm installation package and an upgrade to the Evisceration line and the Picker/Scalder lines.

The facility needed to remain fully operational throughout the project with all critical lines being rerouted around construction. A majority of FZ’s work was completed during scheduled one-week and two-week shutdowns in order to minimize interruptions to normal production. Our crews worked around the clock and utilized prefabrication in order to complete the work within the allotted shutdown time.

Prefabrication allowed for less congestion and manpower onsite while ensuring a smoother install of equipment. Everything from cable trays and lighting, to devices and equipment stands were prefabricated in our off-site electrical prefabrication facility and then delivered to the site using just-in-time delivery. We also pre-installed electrical components on the production equipment before it was installed in a different housing facility.
