A large group of electrical apprentices from Feyen Zylstra, a Grand Rapids based electrical contractor, illuminated the main entrance of St. Ann’s Retirement Home with Christmas lights for the holidays.
Throughout the night, St. Ann residents and employees expressed gratitude to the apprentices for helping make the holidays special.
"Thank you to the FZ team for making the holiday season a whole lot brighter," said Nikki Rollenhagen, HR Director for St Ann's Home, "The Christmas lights have already brought so much joy to our residents and employees. We are beyond grateful for FZ’s community outreach and your dedicated employees."
“We love getting our apprentices involved in the community," said Greg Klein, Construction Site Superintendent at FZ. "Through our apprentice program, apprentices learn the necessary skills needed to succeed in an electrical career. This provided a meaningful opportunity for them to work together for a good cause.”
The apprentices were able to use their FZimpact time on the project. FZimpact is Feyen Zylstra's internal, employee-driven volunteer program. Under FZimpact, every FZ employee is given eight paid hours per year to give back to their communities. Hundreds of employees have used their time to support causes that are important to them.
