Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) Western Michigan chapter, a national construction trade association, has named Greg Klein a 2021 West Michigan Craft Professional of the Year (CPOY) finalist. Greg is a construction site superintendent at Feyen Zylstra, a Grand Rapids-based electrical contractor.
ABC seeks out well-deserving candidates for the CPOY each year, reaching out to area construction companies for nominees who demonstrate a passion for the trade, craft mastery, leadership skills, and a high standard of professional excellence. The award is especially relevant today with the dramatic shortage of skilled tradespeople nationwide.
Greg brings over 22 years of industry experience to Feyen Zylstra construction sites and apprentice classrooms, doubling as a leader and mentor on and off job sites. Greg is known for leaning into challenging situations and having the skill, passion, and boldness needed to succeed.
"Greg is a pillar at FZ—as someone that is equally respected by our field, office, customers, partners, and even competitors, his reputation proceeds him. He is an example of what a leader should be, displaying professionalism, humility, integrity, loyalty, and skill. He is extremely deserving of this honor," says Derek Hunderman, Director of Sales and Operations at Feyen Zylstra.
The West Michigan CPOY award winner will be announced live at the Excellence in Construction Awards on Thursday, Sept. 16, at the Getty Drive-In. The other finalists are Ben Eshuis from Allied Mechanical Services and Matt Harburn from EV Construction.
